Introducing Figma’s new glass effect

Figma · Jul 2025 · 0:29

00:00:00 / 00:29:19

Built as a feature reel: a circular-mask reveal of the Glass panel, then four fast context demos where dragging sliders updates the refraction in real time, then an abstract gradient pass and a story-text refraction, ending on the logo. Signature moves are the expanding circle mask, live slider-driven refraction with rainbow chromatic rims, and hard cuts locked to a 129 bpm pulse.

No filming indicatedEstimated needs: 2 capture groups — your screens or recordings · 1 official logo — reused across the film · 2 graphic passages — draw or supply · 1 3D passage — build or supply

  2. 02 · Feature reveal · 0:03–0:07

A 3D glass sphere on the left refracts a black-and-white stripe backdrop, beside a dark control panel with Glass sliders. A cursor drags the Depth slider down, and the sphere's refraction tightens, magnifying the stripes in real time.

  3. 03 · Feature reveal · 0:07–0:11

A dark settings panel with sliders overlays a blue music player, and a cursor drags the Light, Refraction, Depth and Frost controls. The player card comes into full view as the frosted blur updates.

  4. 04 · Feature reveal · 0:11–0:15

A cursor sets the Frost slider to zero on a Glass settings panel while the frame zooms into a phone mockup, where a frosted rectangle refracts a yellow flower and a bee behind it.

  5. 05 · Feature reveal · 0:15–0:18

A dark design tool canvas shows a purple glass card with its Glass settings panel open. A cursor drags the light direction pad, swinging the beam across the card, as the view zooms in on the Refraction, Depth, Dispersion and Frost sliders.

  6. 06 · Demo · 0:18–0:20

A locked-off close-up: a dark toolbar with plus, bookmark, dots and speaker icons slides down over a yellow card, shifting from black to orange to a glowing yellow pill. Then abstract shapes drift on black: a rainbow bar, a green circle, a yellow orb and a white pill.

  7. 07 · Demo · 0:20–0:22

Rounded green, rainbow-gradient and blue bars drift horizontally across a near-black field, while faint outlined circles of fine radial lines glide behind them at different speeds, creating layered depth.

  8. 08 · Demo · 0:22–0:22

A white paragraph on black drifts upward while a pill-shaped glass lens with a rainbow refraction rim slides across it, bending the letters behind it into colored streaks. A blue selection box with corner handles frames the line “creating dazzling.”

On-screen text: “Once upon a time in a shimmering land called Crystal Cove, there lived a little glass named Glimmer. Figma glass effect now available reflectivity, she could b”, “ounce light in every direction, creating dazzling rainbows that brought joy to all who saw them.”
